New Names and Organizational Changes
The Colorado Bookstore, operated by Barnes & Noble College, is closing in March, according to a report in The Denver Post. The store, which has been open for more than 80 years, has been in its current location since the mid-1960s.
 
New Positions and Promotions
Angela Davenport accepted a position as program development manager at Safeware, a provider of specialized insurance for computers, electronics, and other high-tech equipment. She spent the last eight years at Patriot Computers, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, serving as operations analyst and manager.
 
Renovations and Construction
The Grand Valley State University Bookstore, Allendale, MI, will move into a location in the new Marketplace building on the GVSU campus in April. The store will occupy three floors in the new building and nearly double the size of the current location. The space will also allow the store to stock textbooks for both the Allendale and Pew campuses.
 
Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI, is expanding into downtown Providence, leasing a 100,000-sq.-ft. building that will open in May 2016. The space will include 18 classrooms, 100 conference rooms, meeting spaces, offices, and a new university bookstore and café. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers operates the campus store in Bristol.
 
Condolences
Gerald L. “Jerry” Henningson, former sales representative for Bookbags Inc., died Dec. 30, 2014. He sold promotional products to college stores after a sales career that included positions with the Dixon Pencil Co., Strathmore Co., the American Pad and Paper Co., and Jansco Inc. Henningson retired in 2013. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
