New Names and Organizational Changes
CafeScribe changed its name to BryteWave and added features that allow users to hide and edit highlights, add and edit notes and manage bookmarks in CafeScribe offline. The e-textbook platform is owned and operated by Follett Higher Education Group.
 
Edison State College changed its name to the Florida SouthWestern State College on July 1. The bookstores on the Fort Myers, Naples, and Punta Gorda campuses are now known as the FSW Bookstores.
 
The UMHB Bookstore, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Belton, TX, changed its name to the UMHB Campus Store. The store also moved into the Bawcum Student Union, where it is scheduled to reopen by the end of July.
 
New Positions and Promotions
Roger Hailstork was named director, Syracuse University Bookstore, Syracuse, NY. He previously served as bookstore supervisor, Miramar College, San Diego, CA, and book division manager, UCSD Bookstore, University of California, San Diego. He takes over from Betsy English, who retired July 1 after 24 years with the Syracuse store.
 
Will Schrom was promoted to national accounts manager at Chronicle Books, responsible for the Barnes & Noble Calendar Club. He joined the Chronicle trade-sales department in 2011.
 
Renovations and Construction
The University of Windsor Bookstore, Windsor, ON, Canada, has moved to the lower level of the CAW Student Centre. The store had been in a temporary location in Vanier Hall since its old location in the Odette School of Business was repurposed for additional classroom and lecture space.
 
Member Mention
J&S Maroon LLC, Carbondale, IL, opened a satellite 710 Bookstore location in West Frankfort to serve students at Morthland College. The company also has stores serving Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, and John A. Logan College, Carterville, IL.
 
Retirements
Marilyn Gillette retired as assistant director, WMU Bookstore, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. She had worked in the store for 39 years.
 
Janet Hamilton retired as administrative secretary for The Book Mark, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN, on July 11. She worked at the store for 28 years, was a volunteer to the Tri-State College Bookstores Association, and performed light support of the Nebraska Book Co. POS system around the tri-state region.
 
Susan Tate retired as vice president of business and finance at Capital University, Columbus, OH, in June. She was responsible for the operation of the Capital University Bookstore during the eight and a half years that she held the position. Tate previously served as a controller at Bethany College, Bethany, WV, and Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, PA, as well as director of financial operations at Wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling, WV.
