New Positions and Promotions
Jessica Pace, manager, Panola College Store, Carthage, TX, was named director of institutional advancement for the college. She will assist in fundraising programs, coordinate the school’s alumni association, and promote the institution through public relations and marketing campaigns. Pace has been manager of the College Store since 2011.
 
Chicago-based e-textbook distributor RedShelf named longtime publishing executive Tom Scotty as its chief operating officer. Scotty was previously co-president at Macmillan Higher Education, where he worked for more than 17 years.
 
Chronicle Books added Tim Wright to its special-markets sales team. For more than a decade, Wright created and sold greeting cards to national and independent retailers.
 
Awards and Achievements
Kathyrn Le Gros, director, ancillary services, Camosun College, Victoria, BC, Canada, was installed as president of the National Association of Auxiliary Services (NACAS) at its 2014 conference in Montreal, Canada. William Redwine, assistant vice president, Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, was installed as president-elect; Peter North, director of auxiliary services, Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA, was elected as the east regional representative; and Matt Sirinek, director, auxiliary services, Carroll University, Waukesha, WI, will join the board as NACAS Education Foundation president.
 
Renovations and Construction
Mars Hill University, Mars Hill, NC, broke ground for the Troy and Pauline Day Hall, a new building on campus that will house the Mars Hills University Bookstore, along with classrooms, laboratories, and a café. The three-story structure is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2016.
 
Condolences
Tharen Taylor, retired manager of the Mount Olive College Bookstore, Mount Olive, NC, was killed with her husband John in an auto accident Oct. 1. Tharen Taylor retired as bookstore manager in 2008, while her husband retired as the assistant maintenance manager at Mount Olive in 2001. Donations can be made to the John W. and Tharen “Happy” Riggs Taylor Endowed Scholarship Fund, University of Mount Olive, Gift Records Office, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, NC 28365.
