Course Materials & Intellectual Property (CMIP) Council

Title: Course Materials & Intellectual Property (CMIP) Council Member 

 

Responsible To: Council Chair
 
Time Commitment: Varies depending on the scope of projects defined and accepted—typically not more than 2 hours per month. Monthly, one-hour conference calls are used to plan projects and track progress. Should the group need to meet in person all expenses will be paid by NACS. The majority of the group’s work will be conducted virtually. The position, term is one year. Application is required each year and the maximum number of consecutive terms is three.
 
Method of Selection: Open call.
 
Responsibilities Summary: Actively participates in the work of the council; focuses on the best interests of the Association and the council; and works toward fulfilling the council’s goals. The group will have a primary staff partner, who will call for proposals for actions and initiatives from the NACS staff, using the strategic priorities outlined by the NACS Board (and through the Education Committee) as the filtering mechanism.
 
Potential Areas of Focus: Some sample tasks/responsibility areas for this group are listed below:
 
  1. Develop and/or deliver CAMEX sessions
  2. Assist in Competency Model Review
  3. Collect tools and resources on Course Materials and Intellectual Property for the NACS web site
  4. Develop and/or deliver content for the Course Materials & Intellectual Property online courses

 

Responsibilities:
 
  • Reviews all relevant material before meetings or calls
  • Participates in all meetings and conference calls
  • Supports the chair in developing and completing assignments, projects, and timetables needed to complete the goals of the group
  • Completes assignments in a timely manner, or offers alternatives
  • Promotes the work of the council to industry peers

 

Qualifications:
 
  • Expertise in a given area as identified in council’s charges
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Full-time employment in a college store or other organization that is a current member of NACS (in good standing), solid organizational support, and job stability
