New Names and Organizational Changes
  • Villa Julie College Store, Stevenson, MD, is now Stevenson University Store.
  • An advisory committee comprising administrators, faculty, and students chose Follett Higher Education Group to manage the Boston College Bookstore, Chestnut Hill, MA, effective Aug. 1. Follett said it will invite all current employees to remain with the store and will provide added training and development opportunities.
New Positions and Promotions
  • James Melton, who resigned last week as Baker & Taylor's vice president and CFO, will be replaced by Jeff Leonard, who joins B&T from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, where he was vice president and treasurer. Leonard starts at B&T on Aug. 11.
Awards and Achievements
  • Ingram's Lightning Source Inc., a provider of demand-based book manufacturing and distribution, received The Book Print Award at the annual Quality in PrintMedia Awards. The award recognizes excellence, innovation, and outstanding creative output throughout the print supply chain. Winners were announced July 9 in London, England.

  • Cambridge University Press, New York, NY, will partner with the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies, Princeton, NJ, to publish the 60-year-old quarterly political science journal World Politics, beginning in 2009.
  • Kevin Curtin, manager of the Matthews Illinois College of Optometry Bookstore, Chicago, noted that "a rising star in our midst," Assistant Manager Sherry Harris, appears as an extra in the recently released Batman movie, The Dark Knight. "She can be seen in a courtroom hallway scene," he said. "Autographs are available!"
